Box section where rear beam attaches

Just been for an mot and its failed on a hole in the box section where the rear beam pivots

Is it difficult to repair this area?

Sure I've seen repair sections for them somewhere

Put simple - yes!

Yep, there's repair sections available, but its quite an extensive job to fit it. Your rear beam mount might be sufficiently good to only need patching, which also means you can use some thicker metal there if you want to restore its strength.

You can't really put a price on it until the axle is off and the area is cleaned up with a wire brush, rust is like the tip of an iceberg. Could easily be more than £200!!!

That's the repair panel but it would be unwise to assume other areas nearby are unaffected. Also, the removal of the rear beam in itself causes issues, if the car's rusty - them bolts sure like to snap! And the brake lines will be junked in the process (probably), and the fuel tank has to come out too. A big job.

so dealers for the bolts?

If only!!!!! They're welded into the box section inner part, and if they snap, its a mission to sort it out.
