bottoming out after new suspension fitted :(

Hi there, i have recently replaced my whole front suspension, new springs, gas shocks, bump stops and top mounts. However when i go over a pot hole there is still a relatively loud bang and the whole car shakes. Could this be because the bump stops are too long ? Thanks for any advice

It could be becuase you've missed out a crucial component, for example the small spacer in the top mount.

not low at all, probably about 3 inches between top of tyre and wheel arch.....

shouldnt be bottoming out then, push down the corners of the car and listen for any clunking. also it should bounce once and then settle

ok thanks for the replies, when i push it down it feels fine, i mean i cant get near to bottoming it out and it ounces up and stops. However when i go over even a relatively small bump the whole dash clunks if you know what i mean. THe steering feels relatively loose so im wondering if this has anything to do with it ? Thanks in advance

When you put the shock insert into the front strut housing did you tighten the gland nut or use locking compound to keep the shock absorber secure? Grab the shock and see if you can feel or hear it moving in the housing when pulling etc...
