bolt size for speedo cable bracket.

can anyone confirm what size bolt is required for the small bracket that holds the end of the speedo cable into the gearbox - not sure whether the thread is knackered on the hole the bolt screw into or I am trying to fit too small a bolt into the hole. bit tight to get my arm down there from the top !!

That hole gets worn ! Clean the area , then plop the bolt in with a good blob of loctite thread adhesive

is the cable under any strain at all - does the bolt actually hold the cable in or is it just a safety measure. suppose the speedo gear is held in by the gearbox gears so isnt really pushed or pulled about too much. M5 screws in but doesnt tighten so think thread is gone. will try and cut another thread.

Or large self tapper screw ! Not under much strain . I ran one glued in for years .

Should be M6 bolt, 10mm head.
