bilstein sprint line ride height

the springs supplied with the kit drop the car by 30mm i would rather keep it standard.what are the alternatives to the supplied springs or are the dampers designed for this specific ride height? :dontknow:

I'm confused by the drop thing as the standard hight for not Gti' is 360mm from the arch to the wheel centre, GTI are 340mm. so are kit dropping from the standard or the Standard GTi hieght?

I have read many posts about  car being higher after fitting an after market lowering kit, anyone got any suggetions?

Boogaloo the lowering kits usally have shortened stroke dampers to stop them botoming out when you lower the car so i wouldn't recommend using lowered shocks with standard springs.

yes, i need to establish if it is indeed a drop over a standard mk1 ride height or a gti.as for your second point, i would assume that fitting new top mounts and other new components would account for a percieved higher ride height, my gti was certainly higher at the front after fitting new top mounts

I'd imagine that the Bilstein kit drops 30mm off GTI height, otherwise it would only offer a 10mm drop over standard GTI height, whihc isn't much for ?300. A lot of standard GTI set ups seem to involve the front of the car being slighty higher than the rear. Most lowering kits seem to smooth this out and give more even front/rear ride.

Would have thought that if you want to keep the ride height standard, your best bet would be to fit standard VW springs and quality gas dampers (such as standard Bilstein). The drop that comes from lowering kits is all part of the performance improvement - lowers centre of gravity, stiffens ride, less body roll etc.
