Bilstein shocks & Ventura springs AVO springs

Fitted some new oem bilstein shocks and ventura springs 40mm drop today to my A reg 1.8 GTi, Budget kit from Euro car parts ?150 inc. I am a bit upset as the car does not look as it has a 40mm drop    anyone else had this problem ? I did notice on the spring box it said they were to fit a 1.6 GTi ?? could this be why ? are 1.6 and 1.8 springs the same ?

Ride heights of 1600 and 1800 GTI should be the same. There was some talk on the forum a while ago about manufacturers quoting the drop over a standard model ride height, ie a 40mm drop from standard golf ride height, which is 20 mm higher than a GTI :dontknow:

I brought the Boge Suspension kit from GSF with -40mm drop, wasn't too impressed to start with but by the time everything settle's down it looks more like -60mm than 40!

give it a little time and it should sit quiet nicely

how long or many miles later was that? hope mine gets lower cos it fells like i have just wasted my money   :evil:

takes a couple of weeks for new stuff to settle in my experience.

Yeah it's taken a couple of weeks really, only been on the road for that long!

the ride seems to have got a lot firmer over bumps as well recently..

give it a week or so and see if it gets any better

yeah will try it for this week, spoke to Euro Car Parts they say i can return them as it says 1.6GTi on the box, they dont do them for a 1.8GTi ??? so may get some other springs if it does'nt  get any lower.

it will settle down mate, make sure they are nipped up

I've fitted boge suspension& springs to mine and I'm very disappointed with the ride as it is very soft and wheels scrubs the arches if I have any passengers in or on an uneven road. Ride height is OK but I'm lookin to change..

The front end does tend to bounce alot but I kinda like it! I will get some coilovers at some point but for a budget kit they're alright..  think the reason I'm not getting any scrubbing is I'm still using the standard 9-spokes

suspension still not got any lower (maybe 5mm tops) so have just ordered some AVO springs with 50mm drop.

has anyone used them ? any good ?
