Big brake upgrade. Which Vauxhall models

Post

   Hi guys,
looking to upgrade to 280/300mm discs and from reading lots of threads on various forums i understand certain Vauxhall
calipers and carriers bolt straight on. Problem is i can`t find a definate answer as to which Vauxhall model calipers and carriers you can use.

Vectra B V6/ Gsi? anybody confirm or know any others?

                                  Thanks.

Forget which model i got them from but i did conversion with g60 280mm discs, they are good because they bolt straight on but the calipers are big heavy lumps of cast iron, not good for unsprung weight, also the pads overhang slightly so not perfect but cheapest conversion you,ll find.

Yes thats what i was going to use 280mm g60`s but just need to know which Vauxhalls i can nick calipers off.
Almost sure all vectra b calipers/carriers will bolt straight on.

Its not even as simple as knowing which model of Vauxhall they are from. There's variations across the years and models (and there's LOTS of models!) but accurate measuring up of the car they came from normally does the trick. Also there's at least 2 variations in the piston diameter and 3 variations in the pad they accept.

Also bear in mind this is a popular upgrade for lesser equipped Vauxhalls, so they're not as commonplace as you'd imagine, the scrappies know this and they often get sold quick, or demand a premium (ie don't expect to pick them up for a few £).

Thanks for the reply mate,  will bear all these facts in mind when i go searching.
Like you say probably best to just physically measure them.
