An engine change, but which ?

Have a 1983 Golf 1, JB engine and 4 speed, body in fairly good cond, passed TUV inspec.
Have also 2 complete 83 Golf 1 GTI cars well rusted, no plans to restore.
Plan is to change motor JB to GU engine with Weber 32/34 DMTL and 5 speed from the GTI ,
and front sway bar, rear axle complete from part car.
Question is if there is a better way to use the DX motors with the Weber, and have no plans to change over the K-jet.
I am looking for some more power, not speed, so need more cc's, and to get rid of the JB motor with  1B3 carb.
Using  GU engine due to hydr.cam.
Any member have on opinion or better idea than mine ?

Yeah, bought a brand new 1983 GTI,in 1983, before that converted(1981) an GL to 1,6 GTI , paperwork and all.So I have driven 1,8 GTI
for 7 years, without any problems. Agree DX  engine is strong, much more than those 2 hp on paper. I remember also all those hours with head scrathing in 1981, therefore an easier approach now.
In 1997 converted an mk 1  to GU engine with the 32/34 dmtl weber, peace of cake compared. This  one died in 2002, but I kept the parts, later bought 2 running GTI, but found these in a too bad state, not being able to do steel repair myself.
Now will put in engine and transfer bits from the GTi, btw. have kept the 14 inch Pirrelli's, with covers, and interior for use now.
Looks  like an GU engine with PB head should work out ok
Anyway thanks for your opinion
