Alloy wheels refurb shop?
Anyone know of a place in Lancashire that refurbs wheels (cant be bothered doin all that work of strippin and stuff myself. Wish you look tall pete)? I've got 5 pirelli p's to do, 2 of a mk1 and 3 of a mk2. There all in pretty bad condition but i'm prepared to swap the mk 2's for some mk 1's if anyone as an odd pair lying about.

Ev, I used a company in Prescott, Merseyside to do my 9 spokes. ?160 for the 5 which I didn't think was too bad. They took 2 days to complete.
The number is in the back of Auto Trader.

Proclean in Prescot RUINED a set of Corrado 16V alloys I had on my old Mk3 !!! When I got them back they looked really heavily shotblasted (pitted), there was some runs in the lacquer, and the lacquer hadn't fully dried (so one ended up with 'carpet pattern effect' from being put face down in the boot). Was told 'well that's what we do' when I complained
Was about 3 and a half years back, so may be better now (but once bitten and all that ………)

must admit - never had any wheels painted by them but they did do a good polishing job.
Also had a set re-furbed by Pristine - expensive but good !!!
If you contact pristine they will tell you a local tyre place that acts as agent and sends them away for you.

hobby, turned job, turning self employed kinda thing…
just looking for a premesis at the moment… i do more scuff repair jobs but refurbs can also be done to the face of the wheel. i also will be outsourcing the polishing to a local who i worked for till i have enough for the machine!

Well, I cannot say enough bad things about hammerite Smooth spray.
After all my prep the paint formed tiny bubbles all along the ridges of the rims, these do not disappear as the paint drys.
I will be returning my unused cans this PM and getting some proper Hycote paint.
I will never get back time wasted in having to sand back off the piggin hammerite.
It doesn't seem to dry properly which doesn't help.
I do know the right words to use but I am expressing restraint!
Peter.

Did I use Primer?
Do I look like Frank Spencer? of course I did.
The hammerite even did me the disservice of going on perfectly on the test patch I did on the inside of the wheels!
Then, as soon as I sprayed the lightest coat on the rims, a lovely little line of bubbles appeared along all the 90 degrees edges which refused to go away.
Oooh Betty.

Swapped it for good old hycote.
Probably not as tough but should be easier to maintain.
