Alloy wheel refurbishment?

I've got a set of 15" ATS Cups in ok condition, but would really like them refurbished, i've spoke to and been to most places in and around manchester, who all seen keen to pull my pants down over the price.

Bearing in mind they all say "have your wheels looking like new at a fraction of the cost of buying new ones" hears some examples of the prices i've got

Company x ?65 inc vat per wheel plus tyre removal charges!!

Company y ?60 + vat to strip then ?50 + vat to repaint per wheel!! ?110 +vat per wheel

I've asked them all i dont want any diamond cutting or mirror polishing just them looking good again.

So are they trying it on? and wheres a good place to take em that wont cost the earth? cos at this rate i might as well get some new ones!!!

any help would be Great.

I did up my old Golf Mk2 wheels by doing them myself.

I had the wheels bead-blasted which although took longer tan promised cost ?5 a wheel. He did it with a nice fine grit so they didn't need much attention after that. Sprayed them up using 4 tins of alloy wheel paint - job's a good'un!

As you said, at those prices it'd be cheaper to buy another set off EGay!

You should only pay ?45 per wheel for the refurb and ?10 per wheel for strip and rebuild

if you do decide to just get new wheels and sell these ones illed be very intreasted pm me and let me know

I am sending mine to wheel repair centre in Preston (WRC). they sand blast, fill and powder coat (instead of just spraying silver) for quuite a reasonable price (can't remenber how much, but price is on the web site) they can repair buckles aswel)  I'd be careful where you do send your wheels though, I sent some away to a company in prescot (Liverpool) a few months back for a refurb, all they did was give them a quick blow over with silver paint, I could have done a better job myself..If you want to save money if you go to any decent tyre place they will take all 4 tyres off for you for a fiver alot cheaper than what wheel refurbers tend to charge, only takes a few minutes..
