Adjustable springs/coilovers HELP!!!
My tin top gti came with the worst ever suspension set up known to man. I think the previous guy cut the springs, the genius! So the car looks low but you can't go over 80 on the motorway with me and one passenger without the risk of bottoming out with every bump. And for the same reason i can't carry more than one passenger. Anyway the car is at the garage at the moment to be painted and i thought now would be the best time to sort the suspension. Having read all the suspension threads on here i'm still not much the wiser on what to do.
Can anyone explain the difference between adjustable suspension and coilovers? Also i hear Koni shocks with eibach springs are a good combo, anyone know where i can buy these new and how much they'll set me back? Budget is £300-£500
Thanks
Paul

On a set of coilovers you can adjust the ride height to what ever you want (the ride is on the firm side though) you simply wind the suspendsion up or down on a thread on the shock absorber to the height you want. You can also adjust the damping rate of the shock absorber on any shock absorber that comes with a damping rate adjustment this doesnt adjust the ride height though. HTH

Cheers mate,
Do you know how much you can lower the springs before you have to roll the arches?
