Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrghh!!!

Hi folks,
I've gone and blown my gearbox up…. It's from my Campaign…sniff, sniff, sob!  
Is it true my learned mk 1onians that that I cannot put an ordinary 1.8 mk1 GTI DX box in there as the gearing ratio in 5th on a Campaign box is different…..??!

You can fit any 5 speed - gearing will be different with the various codes.

The main pain is the reverse light switch which is on the 9A box - different to the others.

Ideally you want a 9A to do a direct swap.

If you want another I have a selection

not sure of any mileage on the boxes I have - I do have a very good box that came out of the Silver Campaign (took it out to fit the correct 9A box).

Can't remeber the code but I used it as my daily drive and it ran very well.

Don't forget that the 7G 'box, that came in non-campaign 1.8 DX cars, also has the 9A-style reverse light/MFA switch, but all others are different.
