7j x 15 inch wheel clearance

would a 15 inch 7 j wide wheel ET25 with a 205 50 15 tyre be a problem on a gti with 20mm drop ? i would rather have 195 45 15 but already got some 205 50 15 off a mate ?

depends how soft tge springs are, they may well catch on full compression especially as a 15 on a golf should have the offset of 35 - 38. the tyres as you know wont help the clearance either, and in tim styles book he encouragese the use of 195-45-15 as opposed to 50.

my old golf which my best mate now has is on 7 inch wide mims with195-45-15s and the car is absoloutly on the floor with some coilovers we had to cut the front arches and roll back the lip on the rears, this car is probably 80mm lower than standard though…..handles like nothing else though!!

Why not try the wheels and take them on a ride and see how they get on.

They would deffo foul on the arches. Mainly when cornering on the fronts. Im talking from experience. You would also get slight fouling with 195-45-15 but not as bad. Its the ET25 that will give you problems.

should be fine with 195/45s

I'm on 7"x15"s et26 lowered aporx 40mm with 195/50s and the fronts are fine, its only the rears that are a problem for me and thats only with peple in the back, over bumps….

can always get the arches massaged for clearance
