5 speed box mk 1 jetta

I know its not strickly a mk1 golf but wondering if you can help. i am looking at fitting a 5 speed box into my mk1 jetta 1.6 1983 gl model any ideas advice gladly taken on board, ie type of box , gear linkage etc. its not for performance but just to get it more econoical and not reving so hard on long journeys ! cheers

You'll need the 5 sped box and passenger gear box mount as well as a good chunk of the 5 speed linkage.

Few on here have done the 4 to 5 speed swap.

I have most of the bits needed so give me a shout if you need anything.

Hi mate,i am breaking a 1.5 petrol mk1 gx,MINT gearbox,put it into 2nd gear at 30 to check for syncro problems,spot on,no diff bearing noises either,i have all the linkages and mountings too,dtill in car if u want to look!
