1.3 jetta front brake pads. Need help with dimensions

Hey guys.

I'm rebuilding my front brakes and i have a problem. The pads i have seem to be wayyy too thick. I mean there's not even a gap between them once they're fitted.
So i was wondering if somebody could help me out, i need to know what's the thickness supposed to be so i could buy the right ones now.

Thanks

Not sure of exact measurement but if you take your 'too-thick' ones with you and get the 'thinner' ones you should be OK. Had this problem years ago with a MK1 Jetta Diesel that used the same style brakes as 1300 petrols, small square pads with the 2 pins?

I think VW used two thickness of discs for non vented brakes 12mm and 10mm. Depending which disc/pad combo you used some had @1/2cm not enough room that after a hrs prying and hammering to get them to fit made you think something is wrong here!

Unless compared side by side the replacements would look fine until you come to fit the blighters.

1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.

I thought about just getting some thinner pads, but i wanted to make sure that my calipers/disks are ok..i mean i know some sort of old mechanic owned the car before me, so i wanted to make sure he didn't throw on some random calipers..

And yeah, that's pretty much my story. 1/2cm is about the same amount of room i needed in orer for them to fit..

yeah, if you have thick pads you need 10mm thick discs, if you have thin pads you can use the 10 or 12mm discs.
