'orrible racket-not wheel bearing but sounds similar-speedo?

dear all

HELP!

car intermittently makes a real horrible racket, nothing discernable seems to trigger it,just sheer
cussedness on the car's part, its always when i have to go somewhere important.

sounds like a broken wheel bearing kind of noise but i know it isnt that coz they were just
recently all fixed and now i drive over speed bumps like Mrs Brady Old Lady, not Panzer Meyer.

what i mean is - if i rev the youknow out the engine in nuetral and coast, what happens is the
noise does the same as a wheel bearing noise, it slows with the slowing of the wheels/car.
it is not engine related, its running gear somewhere…

i thought it might be a binding disc,it's not.

then i noticed the odometer doesnt work all the time…
is it something to do with THAT?!?!?!

have taken speedo off at engine end and done best to feed it wd40…
have misplaced manuals in house clearance.dunce.

all and any tips much appreciated

best to feed some silicone lube from the clocks end, plus a bit into the speedo as well

its possible, it may also be the trip counter causing it mine made a nasty clicking noise due to it not resetting fully when i had pressed the button. gave it another push and all was well again
