SWM Venue Discussion, etc

Right! :D

This topic is just to get people?s opinions and to allow them to have a fair say on venue, frequency they are held and anything else!
I know some may even be reading this that have never been to any events before possibly due to distance and so here?s your chance to let us know who you are and where you are!

The infamous venue at the Harvester in Taunton was agreed when numbers at the meet were small. The first event only had three cars! Numbers have increased and continue to do so. This means that the venue location should be open to review to make sure it suits the majority.

We need to first do a bit of research to find out where most people live. Then suggest some venues, and then it'd be nice if we all had a say in which venues are chosen by doing a poll.

From talking to owners at meets and reading posts, here?s what seems to be the general consensus?

There are probably enough of us now to maybe split the southwest up a bit into more events. Two or maybe even three venues? The hardcore among us could do all of them if they wanted of course as we'd alternate the venues each month  :D

OR?

Maybe an event a month in one location is just too frequent I seem to get this feeling from others, agreed? if this was the case then I expect more of us would be up for travelling further.  :dontknow:

These are my opinions, lets hear yours!. I don?t want to tread on anyone?s toes, especially Daisy?s as he?s the event organizer after all!

So shall we start by getting everyone?s location?
Stick your hands up for any mates you know in your area that would attend a meet too!

Cheers,

Ross :D

Nice idea Ross,
I'm presuming that the plan is to accumulate the details and then come up with a Baldric type cunning plan stylee…
To that end I'm in Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, J16 - M4

You should drink more water.
1664 is 95% water.

I like two ideas,
1st being we have separate meets so can maybe base them closer to alot of people, one actual SW meet, where people from the darkest depths of cornwall can come from, and around devon,
And another near bristol where the meet is this month as that seems to also work for alot of people more up north.

Frequency of the meets is fine i think, as some of us dont manage to make them anyway. Ive only just started coming to the meets now as didnt know this site existed before, and as had trouble with cars b4 1 meet and moved this meet, so only made 1 out of 3.

Either way it turns out i'll either be at the taunton one if it stays there, or one more local.

I'm in Bournemouth, and know of a few others round this way.  I havnt yet attended a meet, primarily due to final year at uni and work commitments, but uni is over on 15th may so will defo be attending after that.  Alternate locations would possibly work, but you may then find people only go to their local meet, so in effect, you end up 3 regions!  Just wanted to say a thankyou too for daisys efforts sorting it all out in the past, and hope my previous comments arent seen as treading on anyones toes.

Hi,
I was at the last Taunton meet. My first.
I'm in Frome, so about the same distance to Cribbs, I'll be there tomorrow.
My idea would be 3 venues on rota. Maybe North, Mid & South. With plenty of notice there should be less reason not to attend.
It might be fun, and helpful, if we had a help topic for each meet.
I've been working out how to date the production of VW's from the codes on the car. Do you want to know when yours was built?
We won't be able to make every meet, but different venues should make it easier for all.
See you tomorrow, Cheers,
Graham
