South West Meets - glos

Hi

I'm a newbie and just returned from the annual gathering and would really like to get more involved and meet other owners, are there regular meets in the gloucester area?

I've only had my Mk1 for a few weeks (had a MK4 before) but already can't imagine being without her (even though I haven't driven her yet and she had to brought back from coventry on the back of an RAC lorry!!).  I've realised there's more to owning a Mk1 than I first thought and it would be great to meet other owners.

Hiya, where abouts in Glos. are you?  I'm in the forest-of-dean.  We did have a Swest meet going, but there seems little interest these days :? Would be good to get another one going.

We do have a Gloucestershire MK2 meet once per month and your quite welcome to join us in your MK1.

Im in Gloucestershire as well, near Stroud.
I would love to attend a regional meeting.
I see in the South West area section that there was a meet at Cribbs Causeway, but the last one was November.

Ok guys, i think we need to get this started again.  We need ideas on location and possible dates.  Lets make this work.

just an idea how about ashton keynes or hot air ballon pub?

There is an E38 meet at the air balloon and its a very good location.  I was also thinking of the Toby Cavery at Over near Gloucester.  Where is best for everyone and who is wanting to attend?

I'm in yate, so a nice drive through Cirencester sounds great to me (weather permitting).

Car isn't likely to be insured until end of the month though, so it's off the road till then.

Dave and I would love to come along, but my Mk1 is not going to be on the road until end of Nov - we've decided to put my little car back on the road in style and we're having respray, new interior and engine rebuild etc.  

But hubby has a golf (not MK1, R32) and we'd love to meet up with you all.  Air Balloon sounds good.

I'm going to bold and suggest a date - I think weekends seem to suit most, so how about Saturday 12th Sept at the Air Balloon?  I'm not sure what time would be good for everyone?

I can't do the 12th, I'm away for a friends birthday.  Should be interesting, I've got to drive the golf 300 miles up to Middlesbrough!

I love organising things! So I'd be happy to arrange meets for the SW, which is brave as I never been to a meet before! but I'm sure everyone will keep me straight.

It sounds like there's a few of us about who are keen and I've certainly seen a few MK1's on the roads down here.

right also i met a guy today at gordano services jnc 19 m5..


he said there was monthly meet, on monday's i think 40 mins up the motorway,

said there is normaly loads of cars there.. (vw meet) however i cant remember the name of the club.

something dubz dubs vw's..

anyone have any idea?

The Air Balloon is just off jct 11a M5 heading towards Oxford on A417 follow road to top of road (very steep hill) and pub is on roundabout.

Really great location and good drives all round.
