RetroRides in Sheffield

Post

OK folks this is abit of an informative rant about the Sheffield retrorides meet that I have personally been attending for a couple of years now! As we got towards the middle of last year a large group of us that attended the retrorides meet at the retail park became increasingly annoyed with the following points … Stupid idiots racing about risking damage to our vehicles (and there were a few very close calls).. POT SMOKING as this is supposed to be family friendly venue.. and general similar points tied to the above mentioned facts (not fiction, actual fact that I myself whitnessed!
At around this time August of last year my brother became the official organiser of the meet and a collective descision was made to move the meet to another location. The new location was decided to be the meadow farm pub just off of junction 35 of the m1, the meet is nice and easy going with a very relaxed atmosphere with a STRICTLY NO DRUGS POLICY, full cctv coverage and no messing around wheel spinning doing doughnuts!

Further to my above post there is a group of 3 of us that oversee things (and yes I am one of the 3 lol). Any breech of the no drugs rule or the no messing rule and you would be told to leave as this is held on private land with the consent ( this being the pub owner) of the landlord. It's a very nice pub and truly is family friendly. It is also the official meeting of retrorides that I would like to invite the Mk1 owners club to attend (providing the rules are adhered to)! I think the basics are if you like to choke on pot smoke and dont mind the idiots the retail park is for you, but on the other hand, if you like to show off your wheels even if they are about dead. in a friendly place with beer, food, and great people around … then meadow farm is the meet for you!
It's still 1st monday of every month from 7pm and we would welcome anyone who wishes to attend (and if you don't like it you can always go to retail park after)
Cheers Graham (I'm waiting for irrelevant corrections of material fact lol)

We had the same thing here, if you are on retro rides you probably heard about the beach meet in Brean. We went along last year and thre were loads of people driving like idiots along a family beach, revign engines, doing dohnuts etc. i think its been called off now because of it :(

Always a small majority that ruin it for everyone else

I think the last time I went was probably Oct '12 to Retail park one.

Never witnessed any bother at ones I attended, but know it only takes a few to spoil it. Shame.

How many you getting at the new location then - might pop through for Feb.

Is the guy with the Austin Princess still involved?

Cheers.

Meet numbers vary but generaly 20+ , the cold and wet puts people off though…. My brother (organiser) IS the guy with the princess lol and you would be more than welcome at febs meet just hope the weather is better. will be the first monday starting at 7pm, I will be there in the blue golf.
If the weather is really bad it's ok we have a nice warm cozy pub to hide in anyway lol
Cheers Graham (I will be sure to post on the lead up to the meet for you guys)
