This has been something I have been looking for quite a while and now picking this up next week.
1992 VW T25 (T3) 14 Inch Syncro 4x4 panel van 1.6 Turbo Diesel
Front and rear diff locks.
Yes I know its only a van but!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fellow club member in the local Bug and van club had it for his business as there was going to be a requirement a few years ago for trailers to be towed by a 4x4.
Ex army then bought by club member used for a few years then taken off road in 2002.
Dry stored since then. Starts runs and stops also front and rear diff locks operational.
Current plans to replace the following.

Flexi hoses all round and any brake pipes that need replaced.
Rear brake drums
Rear brake shoes
Rear spring kit
Rear brake cylinders.
Front brake discs
Front brake shoes
Front brake callipers
Outer CV boots

Oil and coolant change all filters and cam belt.

Body work wise seems very solid but rear wheel arches to be replaced and the passengers step, all panels from VW heritage. Respray on both sides and roof. Front and rear paint fine.

Interior wise drop the bulk head by half and insulate and repanel and cover interior, fit rock and roll bed, kitchen pod and folding buddy seat, leisure battery  and charger.

Retrim front seats and door cards.

Will use as day / surf van.

Extras way down the line
Rear spare wheel carrier
Side rock sliders
Change alloys to VW originals.
Roof rack
Decoupler for 4x4 system
May be 1.9 TD  golf engine (gearbox upgrade needed)

As the vans being worked at by a local garage I needed to get hands on, so instead of getting the engine panels blasted I got stuck myself, wire brush on the drill and they where given a good going over, not to much dirt on them, just a mouse's nest!!! Two broken bolts drilled out and rethreaded. Coated the panels with rust killer then left overnight to dry out then a good coat of hammerite. Found some nice new VW self tappers and washer I had bought for another project so will use these on the van. I know they will not be seen but  needed to do something.

Well van still in garage waiting to get final bits done before body work,so got stuck into some new interior panels.
3 8x4 sheets of 4mm ply did both side door panels and the 3 big side panels just need to do the tail gate panel.
Slowly slowly with the jigsaw so no wavy lines. Have not decided what colour of finish do do the panels but the all the rear will be trimmed out.

Got a chance to do a bit on the van this morning, striped out all the fibreglass 4 bin bags full, all good panels behind it :ok  apart from the 2 bad bits in front of the rear arches which i already knew about. :ok Sound behind the rear lights, removed the old hose going to the air filter will be replaced later. The van had not been started for a month but fired up on the 1st turn. Still waiting for her to be slotted in to get the last few mech bits sorted.

Called by the garage to day and the old girl was up in the air, a good sign some more bits being fitted. Front shocks on,tail pipe on and exhaust mounts on. Had another good look under her and checked the front top ball joints one side had a small split in the boot so have ordered 2 new ones up from Brickwerks. Slow but steady :ok

Yee haa big day today called in to drop of the 2 new top ball joints and the mechanic told me he had her out for a burn to check out the new brakes, had her running at 60mph and no issues and stopping great so all looking good also got coolant changed no issues and old coolant not rusty, going to replace the turbo oil feed as the old one is a bit  corroded where it goes into the turbo.

So whats left? New fuel filter after draining the old diesel out she had been running on red (not very good) had her ticking over to burn some of it out and rad fan coming on ok.

Called with body guy and he's got a slot in the next 2 weeks.

So looks like its starting to fall in place still a few hose issues to sort but looking good.

new hose fitted from turbo to air pump used alloy flex hose not ideal but will do as a temp measure, door cards stripped out, rear mud flaps removed,
leak spotted on injector need to replace blanking plug. Air filter canister removed and filter checked ok.
started and left ticking over, small water drip on plastic pipe to rubber hose at rear will fit new hose clip. Old (red )diesel nearly all run out ,gauge now in red so time for some nice fresh juice and injector cleaner. Tyres need changed as cracked with sitting so looking some new
