Hey Everyone

I am fairly new to this forum so i'll introduce myself again my name is Jack and i have just purchased this very early series 2 Mk1 golf GLS which missed out on being a series 1 by just 60 days which is rather remarkable but it was owned by a old man here on the Isle Of Wight and i have bought it to restore it!

i am no rooky to the world of Volkswagen's having owned 4 other Mk1's i live, eat, and breath these retro icons and with no further ado here is the latest.

Here she is the day i picked it up. ( the previous owner had tried to make it 'cool' by lowering it 40mm and putting some snowflakes on )

I got her back to the workshop and immediately got to work on a clean up.

bumpers off!

non genuine wings off!

unfortunately i didn't take Before & After shots of the engine bay :ocf_emoticons__BangHead: but i did spray everything over several times with degreaser to remove 32 years of grime!

more progress to come and more pics of the absolutely immaculate un molested interior :)

Be interesting to see a more door completely restored.

I love the workshop. I take it that it's an old entrance to a mine or on old workshop on a mine somewhere?

Nice car and should look stunning when finished! I also love the workshop! Is that the workshop the 'A' Team use and in about an hour the Mk1 will drive out looking like a Sherman Tank?:lol:
