S2 Mk1 GTI, ABF, carbs and all that jazz

Right then chaps. I wanted to start a build thread to organise my process. I haven't got much further than collecting parts for now since I don't have a garage just yet… Anyone know of one in or around Bristol give me a shout :)

So here she is at the moment:

I got some magnesium racecar wheels to go on her and plenty of other bits and bobs

I'm hoping to do some different bits than the usual 16v swap. I have plans to make variable length velocity stacks on bike carbs but i'm struggling to find the ones i want to start with.

parts i have collected so far:
quaife quick rack
abf engine - kr water flange
Peugeot 205 gti distributor
ashley 4 branch exhaust manifold and complete exhaust system - manifold will need tweaking i guess
zx9r bike carbs (plans to get something a bit more lively)
s1 dash to wire in
ford recaro seats - to be upholstered
mamba solar wheels from an F3 racecar :)
prothane full polybush kit
zender spoiler
bbs splitter - not sure if this will be going on the car though, its pretty ugly
A very unique steering wheel but thats for later

The plan is that the car will be lively and most of all fun! it wont be economical, it wont be comfy, it wont be clean and i wont be taking it on track days. its just a toy to put a smile on my face and shove around some corners :). I originally wanted to try and do it for under £1000 but we all know you never make the budget.

the pug dizzy fits the abf so i dont have to have any ecu etc. i want really raw basics in this thing.

the car isn't bad under all the grime and its pretty straight but the outer sills need doing and the rear arches need some attention. all the replacement panels came with the car though, i just need to learn to weld a bit nicer before i get going on the thin stuff.

cheers guys
