Hi there, let's see if I can help at all??

Brakes - I'm out of touch on that one but 16v MK2 used to be a popular replacement

Power steering - no idea to be honest - a lot of work I would have thought - do you really want to do that?

Gearbox - I got quoted a price for my MK2 16v box from  these guys - http://www.volks-apart.com/ - they seemed competitive

Rear brake - yes they do - I think MK3 also, both with new hubs. Personally I wouldn't bother unless you're putting a big power engine under the hood. Most of the braking is done by the front wheels and if all is set up well rear drums would be spot on I think

Respray - you need to find someone local that you can trust!!!

Hope that helps ;)

Hello,
I'm new at the forum, but I have the same project (though a cabriolet) and I'm also looking for simple improvements. I what to upgrade the brakes motor (i'm going to put in a bigger one in) and anything worthwhile to do if it's a simple operation and parts second hand are available, so please keep me updated in your project. I have installed a mohair top, painted it metallic grey and put in a leather and alcantara interior uptil now, but I want something faster and a bit more economical. I'm thinking about a 2.0 seat or Vw motor with a multipoint injection that makes it faster but not a gaz guzler…make it a wolf with a a sheep skin..

Sounds good to me! Have you got some photos of your MK1 to share with us?

Electric power steering off a corsa b is worth a look. There will be some fabrication work involved but ive done this on nova's mk2 escorts and golfs with great results.

Mk2 Servo and MC or Bias pedal box and remote servo depending on what you want to spend and your future plans.

There are a couple of options Google is your friend, Toyota Starlet hydraulic system will fit with some modification or simpler than that a Corsa C electric power steering system will work again Google.

There are loads of places that will do this for you, the gearbox isn't rocket science so somewhere with a good rep will sort it for you I'm sure, try recommendations from above.

Rear brake conversion to discs mk2 fit?????
Not worth it unless you make the brake bias adjustable front to rear, I know discs look better but again as others have said before be careful as if you brake hard you will end up sideways. Bias pedal box is best or a pressure regulator for the rears.
