Nice looking MK1. Will it be a rolling resto once the engine is in?

It's been a while since I have updated this and thought I'd start somewhere.
So after getting the engine built I put everything back in the correct place and took a step back and thought "this needs more love".
I had been following the guys at Restoshack for some time so called them for some advise. Dave was great. Spoke to me in detail and explained the process. So with a lot of emailing and talking on the phone we penciled in a date.
Dave and the guys have had the Golf in since 1st September and well its come along such a long way.
So what we decided was to keep the car as original as possible (the way I got it) but do a running retro restoration. The front end was in a bad shape but lucky for me everything else body wise was fine.
I will be keeping the Zender kit and got hold of some Zender Turbo wheels.
Basic list of things to do:
Engine out
New Front end
Paint engine bay
Sort out Engine/gearbox etc
get the car running and MOT'd
From here I will make a decision if the car gets a full body respray as I want it to be a driveable car.
This is how the car looked when I dropped it off:

Ohhhh Shiny paint….
That was a terrible repair on the bulk head where the clutch cable pulled through, looks a lot better now.
Was the car once white, looking at the inner wings and where your steering rack fits to the car it's white?

From what I know it was always black. It's a one owner car and the last owner always said he's never had it painted.

They've done a great job so far. Nice to see it wasn't rotten under the Zender kit!
When do you expect if back? I bet you can't wait!

They have done a really good job, im itching to get it back especially after yesterdays London Cartel meet. Saw some really nice cars there.
We have not set a date as such but earlieish next year would be nice. Also I SHOULD have a garage ready for it…
Ive had the car two years (i think) and my biggest worry was the rust behind the kit and thank god it was okay.

Sean Thomas no more pics at the moment, the kit has been taken off while at the workshop. What kit is that? Looks identical to mine!
