Hi everyone, been registered for quite some time and owned a mk1 Caddy last year. Only lasted 4month tho:lol:This time round i decided i need a proper project so i went and bought a Mk1 Gti with a 1.8 8v digi engine. Started to inspect what needs doing to it and cracked on removing the front panels.
But for now here she is.

Just test fitted new front panel to give me some ideas. Im going to sell the engine and replace it with some thats got more power
after the mk1 has been stripped down its going to a company thats going to Aqua blast the shell down to bare metal. Makes life
easier when working on a shell where you can see whats nasty rot is hidding away.

You've got stuck in already. I've not seen Aqua blasting before. Is it literally just water or is there a blasting medium in the water?

So what engine will you be going for to get more power? 20v?

Thx Mike, cant wait till its done. Hairyarse  its soda and water. Go on youtube and have a look its pretty good the way its done. Wont warp panels and soda is good for the panels as it cleans them while blasting. Prob going ABF or 20v just depends what headache both will be to do. Just trying to focus on the shell for now.

Ah ok, I've heard of soda blasting, that should be nice and gentle on your shell then ;)
