My Mk1

Evening all,

Some pics of my Mk1 which I have owned for 27 years. Have done numerous bits and bobs over the years but have tried to keep it in touch of the original. Any questions on what I've had done, feel free.

Wondered also if there was anyone that could help me decipher my VIN which has left me a little confused. It is:

WVWZZZ17ZEW093

Many thanks and I hope you like my Mk1.

Take care,

Titch

Lovely Mk1. Is that the original reg number? It's a Northern Ireland plate.

EW chassis would suggest it's a Campaign model.

Let's have some more info and history.

Hi Daytona,

Many thanks, certainly is a joy!

Have kept the 1.8 with just a few minor mods such as a supersprint manifold, custom exhaust, direnza cooling, uprated hoses and leads, Mk2 16v braking with uprated discs/pads all round, fk konigsport coil overs. Exterior I've delocked, changed the lights front and back, electric windows and stuck on some BBS 😊.

Always things to do but pretty much where I want it.

All the best,

Hi Pistol,

That's where I'm confused. EW suggests that it is but it doesn't have the usual tell-tale signs. Did all Campaigns have a sunroof? My one doesn't. Just checked my file and I have an old document which shows there was a reg transfer here in the UK to my current plate. Unfortunately I don't know what the original plate was. I bought it in London from a gentleman who owned a porsche garage.

Still confused.

Cheers,

Titch

Beautiful motor Titch, a credit to you.

I'd have been approaching 25 years ownership with my black Mk1 if I hadn't stupidly sold it to buy something more modern. You live and learn O_o

Former Mk1's - 1983 Golf Driver 1.3 and a 1982 Golf GTI with a 1.8l 16 valve sold 1999 - CKC 66X (I would love to know if its still alive…)

Sounds like the sort of stuff I would do especially the 16v Mk2 brakes which is the best mod I have done to mine even though its a 1.3 Driver! It does not go very fast forward… but, when you slam on the brakes it goes backwards twice as quick- just like a Gti :P talk about stop :lol:It seems that there are lots of peculialities with Golfs and perhaps it was a 'special order' for a member of the Forces? Still think it looks sooo good.
