this is my golf that I'm eventually starting.
Engine wise im putting a abf motor in, I wasn't sure about that engine but my car guy has guaranteed that it will be a good move.
so the plans are. Abf engine all the cheap coil overs replaced with decent ones like kW or weitec, all poly bushed and basically make the car run right to start with. So watch this space for more updates and progress

Sounds a good project and plenty of abf'd mk1s on here, so loads of knowledge
Good luck

Why are you changing the engine?
Something wrong with the old one?

Its a 1800 carb engine and its a auto. Done quite a few miles and i want a bit more power. Its allready had a head gasket change and its never been as good.
I have a friend who's going to do the conversion.

I did not think the sport lines came with a carb and auto box, I can now understand why you want to change the engine and gearbox.
keep us updated on the progress.
