Mk1 Jetta restoration - any one used A&B Motors in Portsmouth?

Hi,

Well another year has gone by, and I have stripped most of ERV down. I had originally intended to do most of the bodywork myself, just getting a welder in to repair bad holes. But after some consideration, and asking for some quotes I had a chat with Alan at A&B in Portsmouth. I got their details from the T5 crowd - and am very tempted.

After having a long chat with him - and saying that I only really wanted him to do the major rust, and seal and prime - he said he could do it all and paint her for about £2k + the VAT. Obviously they would need to come and see the car in person - but I thought that was pretty good. He advised removing the engine so he could do the engine bay as well. He would also pick up and drop off (we are only 20 miles away).

I am VERY tempted - but wondered if anyone on here has ever used A&B.

It would be really nice to have all the hard, dirty and time-consuming body work done- so I could concentrate on the engine / clutch / brakes / suspension….etc….

Please let me know your thoughts - I think ERV would make a great daily driver!
