Some pictures of the car.
It was under a pile of used tyres at a back street garage when I found it.
Pictures of the paint job - Mars Red and a picture of the part finished job.

Biggest problem is the electrics. Absolute nightmare.
Chunks of the looms had been cur out when it was raced.
1.8 engine fitted and with SU carb.
Now replaced with a 1.6 EG spec engine made (according to the engine number 1979/1980)
Car is a 1980 so engine is about right for the car.

Different seeing a modified car being put up back to standard spec.

Sign of the times and the maturing MK1 scene/market?

1983 Mars Red 1.8 Golf GTI
1987 Alpine White 1.8 Clipper Cabriolet

The trouble with doing nothing is that you never know when you are finished.
