Car was purchased in late November from a guy in isle of lewis. He dropped the car off for me which was a good 12 hours drive.
The car from when i got her
shell was just scabby so i rectified all of that with this
wing is the colour i chose. the car was painted on the drive in celly with a satin agent.
shell painted.
decided against removing a window because there was no leaking issues
all plastic arches where all split and bashed so got out a soldering iron and plastic welded them all up and then prepped them for paint. used black aerosol stone chip and painted them up.. did the bumpers aswell to match.

started building back up
bbs' on
decide to go 7inch front 9 inch rear.
brand new reg plates, rear lights and number plate lights on
side stripes sprayed on
painted rear boot like a gti black insert, chose to do this because its quicker and in one piece
car is slightly lower now. all 4 arches have been chopped to stop rubbing issues.
Running gaz coilovers.
My rain tray was damaged so i took a mould off it and smoothed it and took a cast off it.
in place before trimming and painting
finished article
comments welcome.
all of this was done in 5-6 weeks when i had some spare time.

Like the scuttle tray, you ought to make some up and sell them, original ones are going for some daft prices on eBay.

Nice. I like the flat green. I have been toying with the idea of doing mine in red oxide primer, but that is making me think a brighter, flat red will look good!

Nice work mate love it, also top work on the scuttle rain tray, might be worth you having a discussion with
funk-star
know he was looking into mould etc to be able to offer these in mass , that green paint against the split rims looks the nuts

cheers guys. iv done rain trays in fibre glass to outlast the originals and be stronger. will be putting a pigment in the ones ive sold. just doing some testing on them for a few weeks to see how they go. hopefully have a go in carbon fibre with the two piece mold ive made. the green is different. gets a lot attention when I park it up outside work. al mk1 if I was you look for a red you like (any car) pick it and just ad the satin agent. a bright red will stay bright if not brighter. best thing about this paint no need to polish it, just a quick whip down and it doest show any streak marks.

Almost used daily for two years trouble free, thought it was time to freshen the mk1 up. Engine was ripped got, engine bay cleaned/ stripped and painted and new engine was in within a week, not taken pics of engine in situ yet.
And the replacement engine
its not a show winner but will be a clean daily
Front wings and bonnet hopefully will be painted tomorrow. All work carried out on the front drive on a budget of under £200. pictures of engine in place to follow

I bet the turbo engine will be more fun to drive than the standard mk1 diesel engine, I had a Mk1 diesel when I was a collage student many years ago and the Golf was no rocket ship but cheap to run which is what I needed.
Keep the updates coming.
