I recognise that engine
Looks like it's in there nicely. All running ok?
It's a nice engine for a mk1 in my opinion as it retains the small block lightness but gives you GTI power.
Plus they sound good through the carbs too.
Mine was rolling roaded at 144.7 bhp so with an aftermarket manifold and a good exhaust you should see a bit more than 120bhp Neil had out of it.
Got any plans for the rest of it?

Are you using a top fill rad?
https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/golf/go/1975-28/1/121-8010/
Have a look at the diagram to make sure the hoses are the correct way around from the thermostat to the radiator.
Otherwise cooling won't be quite right and you might run hot.

Yeah I'm using a top fill rad

I've got the hoses on from the rad it's the hoses from the heater that goes onto the back of the engine now
There's 3 tubes on the back where hoses go on I took them off the old engine to put em on this one and looks like there is a return t piece on it but that snapped off with corrosion so have to get a new one and figure out where they go 😣

Top one is for the inlet to the heater matrix and the bottom one for the return from the heater matrix.
I blocked off the middle one as it's not needed.
There's also a small one on the top of the housing for te thermostat. That's the return from the expansion tank so you'll also need to block that one too.
Nearly there then
