i broke 2 of the projects and decided to concentrate on the tintops, it had been off the road since 2002 and was partially stripped. has all of the features of a campaign but a dw code chassis
no history with it but believed to be low mileage, has MFA too
the shell had just been painted and a replacement front and rear panel, boot lid bonnet and passenger door had been fitted, although looked good initially the finish and prep is not great and will need some repainting
It came with alot of parts including 2x abf engines 2x 020 boxes, kr and abf injection systems and wiring. green glass, new sunroof and mech, front and rear discs, very good silver stripe gti seats. lots of interior bits, grills, lights etc
sound deadening under the bonnet
the dash was bent so swapped that for another that i had and looked like it was the first time it had been removed
underneath is in very good condition, struck gold on the fuel tank heatshield. hopefully no welding to do on this one
plan was to fit an abf on kr setup so i can keep the wiring intact, repaint it, possibly fit a zender or bbs kit as have both but not sure if it will devalue it?
i might build it with the abf, coilovers, alloys etc and hunt down the missing bits and put back to standard in the future

Having said that, I can't remember last time I saw a restored MK 1 with a bodykit so would be a rarity and plenty of them about back in the 80's so there could be people out there that would really want one still.

not so lucky with this one, had lots of welding to do, both rear arches, passenger sill. boot, axle mounts, rear panel, both jacking points. and a couple of other areas. rear hatch and both wings were replaced. the filler neck had been relocated to the boot and the wheel well and filler neck hole had been cut out and plated over
aaz converted before i got it, i had to wire in the glow plugs as they were not connected to anything.
repainted it myself
mot time, passed
boost gauge and yes that is a hole cut into a hole blanking plate i did have an extra glovebox in there but then got the gauge
Saab 900 intercooler fitted

thanks it didnt turn out too bad for a first attempt.
i couldnt afford a pro job so had to give it a go, you never learn unless you try, had to buy all the gear and a compressor but probably only cost me £250 total.
the car only cost £600 so should give you an idea of the condition when i got it, although somehow it did have 9 months mot left
contemplating fitting my bbs kit on this but not sure its worth doing as i am going to sell it soon.
this was my first golf

bit annoying but have decided to strip all the new paint off and take back to bare metal in the bay. the new paint is scraping off the original so shows no prep was done before it was sprayed.

the buyer told me he was going to keep it for himself but its now on ebay for over double what i sold it for, typical motor trader full of bullshit.

The ebay ad doesn't specify he's a trader. If he is then it should.
think the definition can be altered to suit. he bought it as a trade sale, for profit, under his business name so he got the complete v5, but will probably sell it "privately" so wont have to warranty it, pay tax, or abide by sale of goods act,
i did ask if he was going to sell it on and he said "no i have been looking for one for ages for myself, im going to keep it". i wouldn't mind if he just told the truth, he had already bought the car so just lied to my face for no reason.
