have I bitten off more than I can chew??

So I have just bought this. Also become a paid up member. As already the info on here has been helpfull…
Please come along for the ride… its not going to be a smooth one. Its going to be a very rough and violent ride!! All iinput is welcome as dont think I will manage on my own haha

Basically its a ayp block with a k04 and aum wiring loom with all sensors and ecu.
I know tjis is not going to be easy. It has got a converted wiring loom. But there are quite a few plugs un labelled. That I cant figure out where they go.. (ill get to that later though)

The car is fly by wire and has the mk4 pedal fitted and a modified hydraulic clutch pedal.

Todays work though is going to be fitting the fuel lines and fuel tank. Going to be using a 8mm internal diameter braided line I have a brand new bosch fuel pump for kjet I will use. There is a small looks like see through/white cloudy box attached to a pipe which us attached to the filler kneck. Do I need to keep this? Or can I run pipe from my gti tank to fuel pump to a filter to inlet manifold?  And if I have to use box where does it go? Thanks for the help in advance..

this… do I need to include this on my setup? Thamks.

Figures what above is.. but after looking at diagrams I have an issue..

Big bottom one is flow next to it return.
Top big one goes to filler kneck.

The one where my hand is goes to the valve photod above. Vut on all diagrams they show it returning to back of tank after it… my tank doesnt have a inlet on back of tank.. so can I just leave ir venting to air? And leave in the inner arch with small bit of pipe not pkugged to anything? I realise I have answered my own questions above but this one in stuck on… thanks.

Hi chap,

This is the gravity valve, its job is to vent any pressure from the tank but if your car was to end up on its roof in an accident the gravity valve blocks the fuel from exiting.

It should be located under a plastic cover opposite side of the wheel arch to the filler neck. It connects to the vent pipe you are pointing to in the picture. The return from the gravity valve on my car is fed to the centre of the fuel tank at the front lip where the valve pipe is located and vents to atmosphere. Mine has a funny wizard hat on the end  :lol:With regards to the remaining pipes I have included a picture, please ignore the question marks :)

Oh nice Mk1 by the way :)

Get some more pictures up. Plenty of people doing 20v conversions at the moment so you should be able to get lots of help if necessary.

Hero!!I shall do that. I just wanted to check I could vent to atmosphere as all vw diagrams show it going into another tip on tank.
I have ordered full braided fuel lines today and ends and also a repair panel for the only bit of welding it needs in passenger foot well…

I have spent all day daffodil on with wiring diagrams getting confused amd confusing my self. A guy off a local forum who has one in his mk2 came over and I explained everything and ad I was explaining it. The lot fell into place!! So after wanting to give in earlier… I know cant wait to rip wiring back out and drill my bulk head!! :-)

Nice buy Chris. It looks like a lot of work is done and the wiring will be the only brain-fart material!

So I be fitting these tomorrow

Using a 6n2 polo fuel filter and a bug eye subaru impreza filter bracket… like they are a match made in heaven!! Scrappy trawling paying off :-)

Going to order a 1.5 top fill rad. And just won some k04 oil and water lines :-)
Gromit for wiring in place. Will hopefully feed wires tomorrow.
And also get the axle bolted back in. As my bolts arrive tomorrow :-)

And hopefully order trackslag k04 downpipe and system. Unless anyone else has any better suggestions?

Productive day today :-) got all wiring through bulkhead. May still need a bit of trimming. To get gromit to fit righ but everythibg is plugged in. My mate is going to make me up a small loom for fan and starter. As for sonereason there are no wires for them ha

Next i ran all wires to back and hooked lights and wires are in place for my fuel pump

Then i got my pedal mounted and plugged in :-)

It looks a mess but all in and will neaten up once i know she is a runner! :-) i have no clue what im doing tbh im searching foruns looooaaaads every day and emailing rubjonny a bit too lol
But i dont think theres a reason why she shouldnt start… obv obce a connect lines ive ran. But waiting till i get downpipe before i make definate choices on where lines will be in the engine bay :-)

Next its the gear selector.. was in but seemed to hang low can someone confirm that so long as bottom of selector is higher than exhaust rubber hook under car that i should be ok?? Ill be fitting a track slag exhaust btw..

Thanks again :-)

Hi Chris, looking good so far mate. Wish I was at the build up stage. Do you have any measurements for the fuel hoses at all? I'm just not sure how much to order. Thanks in advance.

Andy.

I got 8mm and i bought 2 x 3m lengths off ebay and included fittings and came in 1 complete 6m length which worked out better for me. It should be pretty much bang on. But depends where you are fitting your filter. Id say get 7m and you will be perfect. As i am going to need to be very careful with my cuts. You can see in pic from earlier. That by time i mount fuel filter will be tight getting it back to fuel rail..and subaru impreza brackets and polo fuel filters for the win! ;-)

So i have sorted the maf sensor issue. Of not having one and also needing a bigger cading. All for £5
Frontera 2.2d bosch casing is 3" and was no aum coded 20vt. So i didba bit of wratching around ford galaxys use the 1.9td vw engine spotted same connector on maf and they run same mass sensor as seat/vw 20vt (i only know adter cross referencing on google) which was handy!!! So i now have this :-)

Bought one of these MAF's and the AGU sensor doesn't fit. The hole isn't big enough and the hole centres are wrong :|

Bought one of which? I am running aum loom… aum and agu do use different sensors :-(

I know, my bad. I should have done a bit more research. It's cool though I just put it back on ebay. Going to go for a VR6 housing I reckon

Honestly... save your cash. Take ya sensor and a walk round a scrappy. There loads of other cars with the same as it that will fit! Will cost you a fiver that way..
