1.8t conversion brain overload!!

Hi Guys


I've been looking at doing a 1.8t conversion in my mk1…. However after reading many different threads I'm in abit of a bother as to which particular engine to even chose. I've seen good things about the BAM, AGU, APX being the most popular it seems. However I don't know what to pick..

I'm looking for as little fabrication as possible and a fairly straight forward swap looking to make around 230 bhp… The obvious choices seems to be either BAM or APX for that as AGU only makes 150 stock and would need upgraded turbo etc which seems abit of hassle.. Correct me if I'm wrong. However is AGU the most straight forward swap.

I'm also mega confused when it comes to gear box/ clutch choices for all as the general gist seems to be the standard box will not like the extra power at all 😂.


Anyone have a definitive idea as to what I should do. I have read alot of previous threads about this so ide appricate if I don't get links to previous discussion if you can
