Post

So recently (kinda) turning 17, im now old enough to drive. Years before my 17th ive always known what i wanted. Renault clio? citroen saxo? peugeot 106 maybe? No. Mk1 Golf. So after months keeping an eye out for a suitable mk1, me learning to drive and me saving up for almost a year, heres what i brought.

Mk1 Golf Citi. South African import. 1.6 litre. with minor bumps and scratches, but nothing that cant be fixed!

Defiantly want to make her look more of an 'english' mk1. more than likely the big citi bumpers will be replaced with the smaller black originals. gti tarantula wheels? slightly lowered? time will tell i guess

Welcome to the forum Charlie ;)

Small bumpers and tarantulas sounds good. Have you had an insurance quote yet??

Have you tried a quote with older relatives (clean licenses/no crashes etc) on as named drivers it can bring quotes down nicely.

Off comes the front bumper

C:\fakepath\image.jpg

BOOM, clearly has been had a whack at some point of it's life.
Oh I took off the grill too, it was really annoying me as it was debadged, not to mention it was being held on by cable ties, plus I've brought a badged grill that'll will be ready to go on as soon as I give it it's last coat of spray

Front wings will unbolt easy enough so you can have a good look inside and out for rust - hopefully it's a job of sand it back, treat the rust and a skim of filler if it's surface rust only

Yeah weather isn't great. Get a cheap gazebo to put up over the car and work all weathers ;)

So spending all my saturday in paint shops trying to find a paint colour that matches my car, made me wonder, Does anyone know if my car colour is a standard colour or custom?
The paint code doesnt come up on any shops system and bringing along my side mirror brought no luck either:S
