MK1 VW Golf Brake Linkage.

I am posting this on behalf of a friend who has just bought an ex GOLF+ feature car. The car has obviously been built for looks and no consideration to driving it.

It's running a G60 lump and roughly 200 hp. However the guy who built it removed the linkage and servo blanked all the holes and bolted the pedal staright to the M/C and it's still running stock 1.6 brakes all round! In other words it does not want to stop…
Annoyingly I have just got rid of all my Mk1 bits so can't help him.

I have offered to help my mate sort the brakes.
I had a mk1 caddy with a 16v lump and that had the linkage a 9 inch servo and 22 mm m/c plumbed into Vauxhall calipers and discs it stopped very well. We are planning a similar set up but need to source a complete linkage including the under dash support bracket, and a servo and will buy a new M/C.

Has anyone got one they want to sell. If someone has one with a larger servo too let me know.

The other rather worrying thing was the steering knock and wobble… I looked and the bottom bearing, retaining collar and spring are gone.
I have found the parts on etka but all forums would suggest the bearings are NLA. Can anyone confirm this please.?

Why would someone build a mk1 with this much power and not sort the brakes and steering? Both critical parts on any car. Some of these feature cars shouldn't have MOTS
