I was so impressed by the 'sales pitch' how could i not join! Sadly ive not even passed my test yet  :oops:   next few weeks though…. Im looking for a mk1 for some restoration fun!..im only 19 so plenty of time to get it done..its getting passed on to my kids for sure! mk1 for life!
Excellent site and im sure its going to be of great use in the near future.

Welcome to the club. Got any ideas what sort of mk1 you'll be after once you've passed your test? Goes without saying that at your age insuring a GTI will require a small mortgage :roll: .

It cerainly wont be a GTI (keep dreaming mike!) Im just going to see whats about when im ready to purchase..its going to be something to work on so im   not too bothered and i'll be stood in good stead for future projects!

alright mike, I'm from blackpool too, you might have seen a mars red mk1 gti about, that'll be me.  Its just in the garage for winter at the moment.

keep your options open, at 19 you'll be able to insure a mk1 gti on a classic policy with HIC and I'm sure it won't be too dear!  I paid 600quid at 20.

A few years later and im back..  :D
So, i passed the test, got a mk2 van, then an old mini and now something more reliable.
Moved a couple of hundred miles away, started collecting watches, but it doesnt go away does it? I still want a mk1..
