Whey hey

Well had to join this site as my wife has a cabby.  Have a MK1 escort, but have to fix the cabby first before I get the escort running.

Fixing the electric hud at the mo.  If anyone knows where the power hood relay is, please let me know!!!!!

Does anyone know what manual would cover the 1992 cabby?

Oh, like the club website

My wife told me I love VW's

Whey hey Electric Hood

Thanks for welcome folks.

Car is a 92 Rivage in blue we've had Rufless for 18 months , got it out of winter hibernation this week inflated tyres and charged battery etc gave it a wash, and power hood ain't powered there is a multitude of relays in boot and under dash but can't pinpoint one for hood.

Any tips or advise would be appreciated.

I gave hydrolic motor a crack with hammer as one of mates suggested it may have jammed. That didn't cure it.

I'll post pictures later in week.

i Know nothing of power hoods mate, try looking through the technical pages or post up a ply for help in the electrics sections, migth get better as most check the newbie threads and try to give a warm welcome..

Either that or click search, (above) and type in a few key words of your problem and have a look through, the answer is probably on here somewhere

There's a Bentley manual hanging about the internet somewhere. Kofi bunged it up from the one I gave him. Do a search, if ya find it download it as there's a section on power hoods.

Haynes dont do a cab specific manual, Ok for engine/running gear etc but doesn't cover anything that is only found on a cab.

Couldn't find the electronic version, so ended up buying the manual from www.albris.co.uk.

Delivered for under ?30.

Just for reference the actual title is:

Volkswagen Cabriolet, Scirocco Service Manual 1985 > 1993

Number 17 circled on the picture contains two fuses according to the manual:

A/C Thermofuse - 30amp
Cabriolet Convertible top circuit breaker.

No information on an actual fuse or relay.  The following information in the Power Convertible Top section may provide some extra insight..

"Power is provided by the ignition switch's "SU" circuit.  This means that the system is powered when the key is inserted in the ignition.  Wires in the convertible top boot complete a ground circuit to inform the control circuit when the boot is installed.  Then the control unit interrupts power to the hydraulic pump motor.  When the top is down, the boot should always be installed.  A circuit breaker above the main fuse/relay panel protects the circuit against overload if, for example, someone trying to lower the top has forgotten to unlock the front latches.  It will interrupt power to the system, then cool and reset after 30 to 35 seconds."

If I have read that right, there is no fuse as such for the hood, but I'm sure someone else will be able to expand a bit on this..

Hope that all helps, and welcome to the forums.  :D

Thanks for that. I'll sort No17 in next couple of days. Found more info. on Removation pages as well showing hydrolic pump bits. I'll get maintenance manual ordered, I can see me needing it in Future. Even though golfs are bomb proof etc..

Thanks
