what if I don't have a garage?

Hi there,
thanks for all your emails about average mileage for a 1983 Golf GTI :)
I have been doing lots of research about buying one, I even went into Halfords today and ordered a Haynes performance manual for the Mk1, and then bought the Haynes manual for the Mk1 including the GTI on eBay. I have been in touch with Adrian Flux and the insurance is surprisingly cheap, lower than the 1.4 polo I drive at the moment.
My question is What if I don't have a garage to store the car as I don't have one.
Thanks :)

Hi and welcome, yep get a good water proof cover but make sure you get some air to it on dry days :D

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

it's not like a drop of rain and it immediately turns into a rust bucket. i've got 2 and neither are in the garage its not really a necessity more a bit of a luxury especially for doing work in this weather

don't panic about not having a garage ,  give it a really good polish and keep it clean , left with dirt/ road salt on  will slowly effect it garaged or not …

Mk1 2l TSR G60.  .getting. There twice as fast

Mk1 lhd diesel…….getting. There for half the cost

I have had my Cabriolet for 5 years, approx 3 of those she was out
in the elements (back in a lock up now) but she suffered no ill effects, just
keep it washed / clean, and make sure its got enough antifreeze in it.
I got a cover from Halfords £30 ish… lasted fine no probs, when she
was outside.

If you are parking it on a grassed area make sure that you stick a bit of polythene or similar down to stop any weeds/grass growing up into it.
