what a weekend

after owner my first mk1(1984 black gti cabriolet) for roughly around 3 weeks , i decided that this weekend gone was going to be productive !

after sourcing parts and woundering if my ebay purchases where going to arive in time we finallly got down to some work -

'we'  meaning me (with a stonking hangover)

the girlfriend (hungover, but not as bad as me)

her dad ( long time vw fan - owned siroccos/jettas/beetles/current vr6 passat owner  but never owner a mk1 golf)

her cousin (aged 13, mad on mk1s and a whizz with a polishing cloth)

what we got done:
1)front grille trim refurbished/primered and several coats of mars red
2)numberplate bracket de-rusted, de-bent ,sprayed
3)sony head unit and speakers fitted
4)new header tank and coolant level sensor
5)new front spoiler
6)g4 cutting compound polish / autoglym bodywash,resin polish,super glossed
  1. autoglym hood clearner / protector
  2. vdo clock fitted (but unfortunately not all wired up - anyone with a 10 bar oil pressure  sender they want to get rid of please get in touch)
  3. new mats fitted (wolfsburg crested)
10)original gti sunvisors fitted ( think they look cool as fook when hood is down and visors flicked up)
11)wheels acid cleaned
12) interior wet vac'd - general clean
13)new pedal rubbers
14)handbrake cover

work done by my uncle who is a mechanic

1) toad transponder immobiliser fitted
2)new plugs
3)new ht leads
4)new manifold gasket
5) general tinker

31 tea bags
12 sausages
5 seeded cobs
3 pints of milk
4 bags of mini chedders
LOTS of cake

i have to say that this was done on a tight buget but shows that many hand make light work and i'm realy chuffed

it feels more like a real loved car now - the damp smell has gone and the tired look is no more

will put some photos up asap

not bragging but as a say i'm really impressed, even with the little things- just not to sure if i'm going to fit a black front bagde? any thoughts?

Well done mate, believe you me having loads of hands to help makes a big difference, I'm generally on my tod.

You need to get some pictures up as soon as.

Oh and I can eat a whole packet of Chedders in less than five minutes easy, they're the king of biscuits, you can keep your Hob Knob.
