Good Afternoon all, Let me introduce myself… My name is Jacob Foster, 21 and I live in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. I am now the proud owner of a White MK1 Golf Clipper Cabriolet 1.8 Automatic. Paid memeber too for the MK1 Golf Owners Club. I need some advice on my stereo. I want an original looking one with the connectivity for an iPhone 5S to listen to music.Does anyone know if this is possible? My mum has a 1973 Beetle in Baby Blue and she has something like this but it looks too old fashioned for my Golf! Thanks

Does the stereo have to be of that period, or will just a retro looking unit do?.. If a retro one would do the trick, then try looking for a pioneer deh-p77mp cd head unit. They look quite retro with no bells and whistles, just great sound and plenty of power.. I am suggesting this head unit for you because if you wanted to expand at any point (and by expand, I mean add amplifiers) then it has 6v pre outs for front, rear and sub.. Also it has an auxillary channel which has an ipbus input and so you should find a cable to go from iphone into that. I know I did this with an earlier iphone, but check ebay to see if the cable exists first.. The head unit is illuminated very subtly in white and also works with the pioneer remote controls. It has burr brown dacs and a basic eq.. At the price you will find a good one for (around £100) I doubt you will find a better sounding, more versatile cd player.. But I am sure you will get other suggestions.. Have a look on ebay, they come up now and again, they were around £400 new..
