VW Citi Mk1

Hello out there!

I am hoping that someone can help and guess I am appealing to anyone who may have shipped a VW Citi from South Africa to the UK but also to people in the USA and Australia.

I have recently bought a VW Citi (Mk1) from South Africa. I have had it shipped over to the UK.

We have strange laws in the UK that seem to treat that import as being some sort of commercial import and not a personal import.

As a result I have to show that the car meets various standards - has anyone ever found crash test results for the Mk1 - if so please email me. Of is anyone has any documentary evidence that the car meets the following standards please email me:

Braking - (USA) FMVSS 135 or FMVSS 105 or (Australia) ADR 31/01
Frontal Impact - (USA) FMVSS 208 or (Australia) ADR 73/00
Side impact - (USA) FMVSS 214 or (Australia) ADR 72/00

Cheers!!!!

Hi there, and welcome!
Is it a relatively new Citi Golf? Or brand new? I really hope you can register and enjoy owning that Citi Golf in England, but…I hate to say it…everything points to it being a major pain in the bum unless it's an old one (like 10 years or more)! I would put a post about your queries into the Mk1 Golf Chat section so more people will see it and hopefully help you. This recent post may shed some light in the meantime : http://www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=79931&highlight=citigolf+import

We'd love to see some pics when you get the chance!  8)
