Hello all

Have been lurking here for a while and finally decided to join ;)I've always wanted a MK1 or Citi Golf (as the successor to the MK1 is know in South Africa) and the latest edition of Speed & Sound Magazine is the inspiration I needed…

Welcome to the club first of all. :)

So tell us a little about yourself and lots about your Mk1?
Please do post up as many photos as you want as we can't see enough Mk1 photos!

Hey all

Thank you for the response.

The Golf in the photo is NOT mine - it's the basis for inspiration to start my own build. The car however is AWESOME!

Soon I will purchase a MK1 / Citi Golf as a project and take it from there…will post pictures as I go along…

Welcome!
I hope you manage to find a decent basis to start your project! Lots of great information and great people around these parts who are pretty quick to answer questions and help.

Plans for the future Mk1?

Thank you…

I guess it's a matter of so much to do, so little time… :(

I can either start with a fairly "new" base, i.e what we know as the Velociti (1.6i 99hp)
$_20.jpg ecd4aa680b354653941735de9f89ba1b.jpg

…or something "basic"…

$_20 (1).JPG

Main thing, I will keep it NA - just too many turbo and dump valve queens around. The 1.6i can take a beating, but I might also think about a 2.0 ADY conversion. Also want it as light as possible, front and rear anti-roll bars, front and rear strut braces, adjustable suspension, CAE Shifter and and and  :)
