Hello from BC Canada! In an effort to network with fellow MK1 drivers from around the Globe, I thought I would join this site. My name is Tyler, I've got a 1982 Mk1 USA built Rabbit, completely prepared for roadracing, time attack, and hillclimbs. 9A 2.0L block with 13.0:1 forged pistons, ported and cammed solid lifter 8 Valve head, Dual Dellorto DHLA's, and an 02J conversion with Clutch type LSD. The car is a ton of fun, as are all MK1's! Looking forward to conversing with you folks in the days to come.

Tyler

A very warm welcome to the club first of all!

Now that looks very impressive so did you build it yourself?

Thanks for the welcome! The chassis was put together by my friend and previous owner. However with the help of my sponsor JS Performance, we have rebuilt and installed the powerplant and transaxle, as well as rewired the car to save weight. Just this past spring I replaced the rear arches as well. No shortage of stuff to do on these old cars!

Welcome Tyler, many thanks for joining the forum - and the photo of your MK1.

That looks good fun, what sort of power are you getting from it?

Thanks for the welcome! Yes BC is fantastic, a bit expensive however. And very few racing venues to choose from. That's where I'm jealous of the UK!

It is definitely a fun car. Weighs in at under 2000Lbs  with me and a full tank of fuel. We haven't dynoed it yet, but our estimates are currently about 140-150HP. It is currently a bit under carbureted however, only running 32mm venturi's. We reckon with 38mm or 40mm chokes as well as a distributor re-curve the engine should probably make a healthy 160-170Hp It's Only money! 20140417_100223_resized.jpg
