Purchased a 1985 mk1 Cabriolet last summer need to get it up and running ready for the summer

Good Evening everyone,

Cutting a long story to a medium size story, I purchased a black 1985 GTI cabby mid summer last year off eBay without viewing…had it delivered and nearly cried as I was lead to believe it was in semi decent condition (my fault for making assumptions of course). As a result, I spent a few weekends in the summer of last year dealing with basic repairs, stuck it at the back of the drive and bought a Red 1993 clipper to have fun with whilst the summer hung about.

Anyway, didn't do much until last month (with either car) when I decided to pull my finger out in preparation for summer and sell the Red Clipper as way of generating funds for the Black MK1 which I was determined I would get to a decent standard. The Red clipper went thanks to Ebay, and Ive now ordered a shed loads of parts for the '85 Golf in hope that it will get me step closer to my goal.

So I now have two new wings, main fuel pump, in tank pump, starter motor gti rainbow seats ready to go in. I just need some knowledge, time and to learn some new skills and I will be half way there.

My aim is to get it mechanically sound in the next four weeks so I can send it to the spray shop and get it MOTd, the champagne will be coming out the day I get the certificate, and you guys on here will be the first to know.

If anyone is in the Sandhurst Berkshire area give me a shout!

Id like to thank anyone in advance for any advice and knowledge put my way on the road to getting my dream car up and running.

Ill get some pics up when I get how to.
