Will hopefully be going to some shows through out the year.
Hopefully the pictures work,

Welcome to the forum. The reg no looks familiar but I can't think who owned it?

The pictures make it look better than it is, the paint work is chipped all over and there is quite a few small dents all over the car but the plus side is it only has 2 small rust spots, one on the bottom corner of the drivers door and one just under the windscreen passenger side just under the plastic trim but I love it all the same.
I don't know much about the car to be honest, it's a 1992 1.8 8v with a weber carb, sports springs and a sport exhaust.
I do know it was made in the osnabrück factory.
I have got long list of parts to replace/renew,
Fuel tank leak (possibly flexible pipe not tank)
Tie rods and track rod ends
All bushes and top mounts
Anti roll bars
Brakes (disk conversion for the rear)
Suspension (looking a little rusty)
The little mount on the front of the airbox has snapped
Spot lamp cracked
Rear fog cracked
I want to install front fogs too
Leaky roof, not leaking through the hood but from the actual structure near the locking handle (I think)
Rust
Paint
I'm sure there is plenty more I will find as I'm going along, after winter it's going to be a pretty busy time, I use it as a daily runner so no chance of taking off the road.

Hi, hello, ayup
I'm over in Derby so your not far.
Leaky roof there's a couple or three fixes for that especially the handle area.
Sounds like you got a few bits to sort out.
Your right all the cabbies inc those USA bound were made by Karmann in Osnabruck. VW supplying the engines and suspension etc. VW didn't want to integupt the assembly line for the Tin top. So Karmann built these for VW.

Haha we are practically neighbours.
Do you know any local meets round your area? I have been trying to find some in Nottingham but it seems like it's all dried up
I guess it will be trial and error with the roof but atleast it's not the hood itself that's leaking. The hook that latches in is a little loose when it's not closed on that side so I'm wondering if it can be adjusted so I will be doing that on my next day off.
I can see where the water is coming from but it's hard to explain so I will try and get some pictures and post a new thread about it in the right section.
Cheers Mousey.

Hi, hello, ayup
The issues are foam gasket seals and associated sealant. The J hooks need adjusting properly. Plus the header seal may need looking at.

That would be fantastic, we will have to arrange a day and time.
The foam seal sounds about right as that was absolutely sodden.
