Thinking off buying Gli convertable

hello all my names Rae just been to look at a bronze/gold Gli convertable first registered 05 11 1980 chassis number 15bk003101 it's got a few rust issues needs sills arches wing inner wing repairs nice colour but a lot off work I am trying to work out if bothering with as there seams a Lott off convertable out there for not much money is it better to buy a better car will this model be worth doing up iam not into vw,s but would like to be ,so would likes some input thank you ,Rae

I guess depends if you want an early car or not, especially if its an original colour Brazil brown one as they seem very rare.  Its the exact car i am after, but needs to be in good condition so dont worry, not after this one. I dont ever expect to come accross one.

You say rare but what's rare how many are there about I must admit I can't find another one in this colour any were iam just trying to work it out is it worth bothering with how many would be in this colour how many left cheers ,rae

Difficult to say how rare in that colour, but I'd guess you wouldn't need many fingers! lol

If it's the series 1 style dash and the interior is good it's worth looking in to it further, otherwise with the amount of welding it may be worth finding another?

I do love the colour, it's the one colour Cabby I'd love to own for myself

Well you snooze you loose bloke wrong this afternoon he still had the car out off garage a van driver dropped something off he saw the car and made a offer and bought it so that's that I was looking forward to vw ownership I'll keep looking ,rae

Shame.  There is a nice looking 81 silver car on ebay at moment but its £3k i think as is a good runner.
