Thinly disguised attempt for my first post not to be an request for help

Hello all
Been a lurking member of this great forum for some time now.  Lots of great information and useful resources, especially as I bought myself a 1985  Gti cabby at the back end of last year.  I've always had a fondness for the early golfs, probably because my first car was a Mk2 1.3…. what a beast ;-)  . I think those early motoring days firmly ingrained in me a respect for 80s / 90s German engineering, often sober, but always solid and reliable, but sometimes fun too.  Most of my cars have stuck to that formula and I still have even hung on to a couple  of other motors from this era. (E30 325, 964 c2 coupe)

Somehow, even as a petrol head,  I'd come this far without ever owning a convertible so a mk1 cabby seemed the obvious solution.  She's a lovely drive.  I'm still working out exactly what she's made of, but appears to have been lowered with adjustable coilovers and en engine swap to later 2.0 litre 8v (2E ??).  Interior surprised me most with original GTi striped seats with no rips or holes!  Outside, there's been a paint job not too long ago, it's not the best, with the occassional inclusion here or there, but from a couple of metres away, she looks pristine.  Finished nicely with diamond cut pirelli p-slots.  (will post a photo as soon as I suss that out)

Will be hanging on to this one as a long term fun / project car and can't wait to get stuck into a few small details when the weather finally gets better.  Cheers.
