Trying to find my grandfathers mk1

Sadly my grandfather died this year and when looking through some of his photos I found a pic of one of many gti's

His mk1

 It was a beauty!!


Anyway I would love to be able to find this car and buy it to keep for along time ( if it's still around)

Tjb 65y

 I have the vin on the original invoice

Any info or tips on finding the car would be great.

i think that means its taxed till March 2013 which is a good sign

I believe through the DVLA you maybe able to contact current owner and send them a letter explaining about why you would like top buy the car, no 100% sure on that though
