The Dinky Minky shall ride again!!!

Well after five years of ownership I have decided to retore my 1984 GLi Golf Cab (Affectionatley known as the Dinky Minky as she is in bronze grey metallic with beige hood) to her former glory (much to my fella's dismay he's always trying to get me to chop her in for a tin top) . Over the years she has had a few small mods (no no non of that in ya face stuff), to list a few audi 2.0l conversion, 16v servo & master cylinder, powerflex & goodrich.

I now have most the stuff ready to be able to send her off to the body shop and complete her once she returns although I would really like to source some chrome bumpers to complete the classic look and with parts getting harder to find you never know when you could do with some assistance finding that elusive part so here I am  :) .

Welcome! Are you going to put some 'before' pics up of your cabby prior to the resto?

There is a thread lurking somewhere about group buy of chrome bumpers from memory, so take a look around

Cheers

Thanks for that I will have a rumage.

I will try to post some pics if it ever stops bloody raining and if it ever stops bloody raining we will be able to put yet another clutch in my Jetta GTi 16V (slight issue with additional power after rebuild) so I can send the Golf off.

Heya,

Welcome to the site!

Try CrazyQuiff for the chrome bumpers, as Hairy said there was a group by from a company called Retro Rabbit in the USA though!

Are you planning on a new roof when it comes back, cause as a paid member of the club (only ?15 a year) you get a 10% discount with Car Hoods Northern, very good company and you'll get your membership fee back twice ;)

Hope all goes to plan and it's back on the road soon!
