Shawnee from Ireland, New Cabby H reg.

:) Hi , I visited the forum for the first time on Tuesday. I was going to view a Cabby in Sussex and wanted some information on buying one.
Well I got loads of help and advice and printed off most of it and took it with me. :banghead:  :banghead:     :P  :P
My son and I left home at 10am on Wednesday to view the car. We had received pictures over the net and I liked the colour and the description. The car was navy with a black roof and is 1991.
We met our Jamaican friend at a railway station and thankfully the car looked as good as it  did in the pictures.  I thought the alloys were a bit flash and the tyres 195/50/15 looked very wide. I drove the car and was pleased with it. Not having driven the non P/S for a while took a bit of getting used to.  Am wondering if the wider tyres and wheels make the steering even heavier ?
We bought the car, got a  Bob Marley Cd thrown in for good measure and immediately set out for Pembroke in Wales. Thankfully the car had a recent mot as I was a little concerned about the 260 mile maiden voyage.
We were stuck in traffic on the a23 for over an hour and I had a close eye on the temp gague.
Eventually got going and enjoyed the trip, stopping a few times on the way.
Had a bit of a scare when I put in petrol as some of it seemed to come out again. It would appear that there is some rust in the filler neck and this needs to be looked at.
At one stage the accelator seemed to stick a little when idling and the car was revving high. I put my foot under the pedal and it seemed to help, again probably needs looking at.
Overall I am dead chuffed with the car, which has the bonus of an electric roof and had an immobiliser and jvc cd fitted.
Twenty four hours and 420 miles later we arrived at our home. Tired but very pleased with our purchase.
I will upload some pictures when I give it a wash tomorrow but for now I think , I'll have an early night. Slept for about an hour on the rocky ferry last night.,
